Panchakarma Ayurveda is as old as the Indian ethos of holistic approach. Its testimony is its relevance. Its age is timeless. Ayurveda has thus redefined the concepts of health .It says: “Disease occurs in those who do not observe the rules of healthy living. Hence the healthy man should be diligent in the observance of the rules of healthy living. The morbidity of the body is remedied by medication, the morbidity of mind by spiritual knowledge, philosophy, fortitude, remembrance and concentration.”
“Health is the supreme foundation of virtue, wealth, enjoyment and salvation; Disease
Is the destroyer of health, of the good in life, and even of life itself . Thus has arisen the great impediment to the progress of humanity.”
Thus in Ayurveda treatment and therapy, prevention and cure are collateral, leading to a metamorphosis of the body, mind and spirit.
“The scope of Ayurvedic treatment consists of a salubrious use of Aushadha (Drugs), Anna (diets) and Vihara (Practices)” Instructions to be followed during
Treatment
During the period of treatment or the existence of disease, Ayurveda advises total physical and mental rest to enable quick recovery. This is described in the form of several restrictions and very strict diet along with a regimented lifestyle. It is very important that this is followed strictly as instructed by the physician.
